Nickel Inconel 601 AMS 5870
AMS 5870 is a solution heat treated designation of Inconel alloy 601, itself a nickel-chromium-iron alloy with excellent resistance to corrosion and oxidation at extremely high temperatures.
The full chemical composition is 60.5Ni – 23Cr – 14Fe – 0.35Ti – 1.4Al
The AMS 5715 specification is available as a plate, sheet or a strip. Thanks to the solution heat treatment, it can be used for rupture-limited applications at temperatures above 1000°F (540°C), compared to the annealed treatment designations which can be used only for tensile-limited applications at temperatures under 1000°F (540°C).
This alloy is an excellent choice for parts that require welding during fabrication, and also parts that will be used in harsh environments, such as corrosives. According to the specifications, it can resist corrosion and oxidation at up to 2200°F (1204°C).
