Nickel Inconel 601 AMS 5715
AMS 5715 is a designation of Nickel Inconel 601, itself a nickel-chromium-iron alloy with excellent resistance to corrosion and oxidation at extremely high temperatures.
The full chemical composition is 60.5Ni – 23Cr – 14Fe – 1.4Al
The AMS 5715 specification is available as a bar, forging or a ring. It can withstand corrosion and oxidation resistance of up to 2200°F (1204°C). This makes it an excellent choice for parts that require welding during fabrication, and also parts that will be used in harsh environments, such as corrosives.
The annealing process means that it should be used for tensile-limited applications at temperatures under 1000°F (540°C), compared to the solution heat treatment designations, which can be used for rupture-limited applications at temperatures above 1000°F (540°C).
