Xi Jinping has big plans to further develop China into a global superpower, with the aviation industry being an important focus.
Last year, the Chinese company Comac introduced its C919, designed to be a Boeing 737 and Airbus A320 competitor, however the country will still rely on Boeing and Airbus to meet demand.
So much so in fact that Airbus has identified China as the market with the biggest growth potential moving forward.
Airbus already has an A320 final assembly plant in China, with plans to construct a wide-body jet plant in the country in the near future.
Analysts predict that the Chinese will purchase nearly $1 trillion in airplanes over the next 20 years, making it an extremely intriguing and potentially lucrative player in the aviation industry.
