Automotive Startup Pearl, Maker of RearVision Backup Camera, to Shut Down
Automotive startup Pearl, which boasted plenty of tech talent lifted from Apple, is shutting down.
The news comes merely a year after the small company came out of stealth mode, responsible for a sleek backup camera called RearVision.
The $500 backup camera looked extremely promising, easily attachable to a vehicle’s license plate, wireless, and seemingly the best in the market at the time.
With many cars coming with these types of cameras built-in and the emergence of self-driving vehicles, Pearl’s sales were disappointing.
Even with acquisition offers on the table, the automotive accessory company is officially closing its doors.
