NASA’s Test Dummies Crash Planes and Other Vehicles for Safety Research
Every now and then, NASA gives us the pleasure of releasing footage of their test dummies crashing a whole bunch of things.
Recently, NASA’s Langley Research Center published another video of their test dummies crashing airplanes and other neat space vehicles for safety research.
By outfitting the dummies with sensors and other various instruments, researchers are able to collect a lot of useful information in regards to what happens to adult bodies in the event of potential crashes. Of course, the date also helps make NASA’s aircraft and vehicles safer.
The dummies ranging from 105 to 220 pounds, enabling accurate simulation across a number of different body types.
