UPS Is Collaborating With Truck Maker Workhorse to Develop Electric Delivery Vehicles
Now, it appears the company is looking to change that by working with truck maker Workhorse in order to build an entire fleet of electric delivery vehicles.
According to UPS, the delivery EVs would have a range of 100 miles and will be delivered this year. “We see this vehicle as being a game changer in the electric truck arena,” Carlton Rose, UPS’s president for global fleet maintenance and engineering, told Reuters. “It’s also an industry first because the acquisition cost is comparable to gas and diesel.”
At the moment, the collaboration with Workhorse is expected to take place for the development of the first 50 vehicles, a fleet which would join the 300 electric vehicles UPS has deployed in Europe and the US, in addition to nearly 700 hybrid electric vehicles.
